about sarah wohlgemuth

Hello! I’m Sarah, a third-year Industrial Design student at Emily Carr University of Art and Design, in the unceded traditional territory of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.

Hailing from the stunning landscapes of British Columbia, my upbringing was steeped in the natural beauty and dynamic outdoor culture of the region. From a young age, I was immersed in the exhilarating world of free-ride skiing, even earning sponsorship as an athlete in my teens. This early experience of pushing boundaries and embracing challenges has profoundly influenced my approach to design.

My diverse background extends beyond skiing. I have 5 years of hands-on experience in van building, which has honed my practical skills and deepened my appreciation for functional, adaptable design. Additionally, I have a strong affinity for textiles, which has led me to run my own small sewing practice, Pant. Through Pant, I focus on crafting and developing custom hats and unique one off projects, where I merge creativity with craftsmanship to bring designs to life.

My design philosophy is deeply rooted in curiosity, connection, and a commitment to meaningful change. I am particularly interested in exploring gender representation in sporting goods and understanding the ecological impacts of the industry. These concerns drive my work and inspire me to seek out innovative, sustainable solutions that address both form and function.

As I continue my journey in industrial design, I am eager to blend my diverse experiences and passions to create impactful, thoughtful designs. Thank you for visiting my portfolio, and I hope you enjoy exploring my work as much as I’ve enjoyed creating it.
